Amir Gwirtzman began his solo project ,Inhale-Exhale, in November 2008, performing alone on stage surrounded by 20 woodwinds, reeds, horns, pipes, flutes & percussion instruments.
He has presented Inhale Exhale in his home city of Tel-Aviv, in Manila as a part of the Philippines International Jazz & arts festiva (February-2009)l, in Peru , at the Universities of Lima & Trujillo, (May-2010) & across the American south as a visiting Artist of the Charles & Lynn Schusterman family foundation (February -May 2010) during this period he performed, among many other prestigious venues, at the Oklahoma jazz hall of fame in Tulsa, The Festival international de Louisiane in Lafayette Louisiana & the B.B.King museum in B.B.king's hometown of Indianola Mississippi. Due to the incredible success of this Visiting Artist program/tour & the audience's demand , Amir was chosen to do it again in the winter/spring of 2011 (February-April).
Growing up in Israel & inspired by a career that has taken him to the U.S , Europe, Africa & Asia, Amir infuses Inhale-Exhale with a unique blend of the earthly R&B of Ray Charles, the soaring Jazz of Chick Corea ,Miles Davis & Wayne Shorter, with the rich rhythms of Cuban Jazz along with Middle Eastern, Gypsy, Jewish Klezmer, Armenian ,Irish Celtic & Native American influences as well.
Amir constructs an ensemble sound for most of his songs, instantly recording one instrument part atop another until the music crescendos into a propulsive blend of rhythms ,melody & harmony. His lively tribute to the Cuban band, Los Van Van , for example features Amir on Clarinet, Classical & wooden flutes, tenor sax, Baritone Sax & 3 percussion instruments.

Amir is also a member of an International Ensemble (with distinguished African & European musicians) called "Sleeping Camels" , together they participated in Euromed festival (2009) in Hungary, Poland & Serbia. They also recorded an album named "Wake-up".
Amir has been playing the recorder (little flute) since the age of 7, the clarinet since the age of 9 & the saxophone since the age of 16. Nowadays he plays more than 20 different reed instruments. He studied at Mannes College of Music in Manhattan , New York, where he lived from 1991-1997. While in New-York city he performed & recorded with many artists including Philip Glass, Mino Cinellu, Johnny Almendra (Ray Barreto & Mongo Santamaria's Big-Band).
Amir is a founding member of the world renowned band Esta, who together shared the stage with artists such as Suzanne Vega,Compai Segundo, the Chieftains, Sinead O'connor,, stanley Jordan, L.Shankar, Cheb Mami & Cheb Khaled. Esta performed to a sold out House of Blues in Los Angeles, Blue Note in New-York city & at the White House in Washington DC for former president Bill Clinton. They also played for H.M the princess of Thailand Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, in 2008 & participated in Hue Festival in Vietnam at the same year .
For the past 10 years Amir has been giving workshops/master classes regularly for students in Universities ,High-schools etc. in the U.S ,Thailand, Philippines , England & Israel.
In 2007 Amir played 2 solo concerts in Hanoi, Vietnam where he collaborated with Vietnam's most famous Jazz musicians.
In addition, Amir has recorded countless records & soundtracks with Israel's finest artists including: Rita, Shlomo Artzi, Rami Kleinstein, Yehuda Poliker, Arik Einstein & Shalom Hanoch, Shlomi Shabbat & Gidi Gov (to name a few). & David D'or , whom he toured with around the world as well.
